What's this? : Examples : Process
I have always had an interest in the fractional elements that make a piece of technology work. The various mechanica aspects of a computer hard drive lend themselves particularly well to my curiousity and screw driver set. In many respects, there is an inherent beauty in the engineering of these devices which is hidden inside the covers of the hard drive. I like to expose what is inside and maybe place those minutiae in unexpected arrangments.
That is what is behind my kinetic hard drive scupture projects. Although, they are mostly in the form of mobiles and wind chimes. The majority of of their assemblage is of hard drive platters and other bits, galvenized steel wire, copper telco wire, solder and random old other computer detrious.
To say that what I do is influenced by the works of Alexander Calder would be a great understatement. But I only continue to do this with the support of my beautiful wife.
Feel free to contact me about my work.
